SELF-ASSESSMENT EXERCISE
A guided self-assessment exercise to determine learners’ eligibility.
PORTFOLIO
A formal document that contains a compilation of evidence documenting the learner’s prior experiential learning and his/ her articulation of learning acquired over a period of time.
FVV
Visit to the workplace of the learner or any suitable environment/ location to assess and validate that the learner has the appropriate knowledge and competencies for the award of the academic qualification.
The visit allows the learner to demonstrate that his/ her learning in a particular job corresponds to the Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs).
CHALLENGE TEST
A proctored standardise test in the form of written test, oral examination, product and/ or performance assessment to assess the body of knowledge/ competencies of the programme.
CAPSTONE COURSE(S)
A course that is designed to be offered in the final semester/ year of studies, depending on programme chosen.

APPROVAL BY ACADEMIC BOARD AND SENATE
The result from the APEL.Q Assessment will be tabled at the academic board and Senate for approval.
AWARD OF ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
The Senate University shall confer a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral degree to a student upon recommendation by the University Examination Committee upon fulfilment of all graduation requirements by the student.
